The Area

Longnor is a fantastic base for a holiday in the Peak District. There is a lot of exploring to be done around the village and in the wider area, be it on foot or by bike.

Other   than   wandering around   the   beautiful   villages   and   countryside   of   the   Peak   District  and its  hills  and  dales,  there  are  many  other  ways  to  spend  your  time  -­     
The  National  Trust  have  many  wonderful  properties  in  the  area:  Highlights   include  Calke  Abbey, Hardwick  Hall  and  Kedleston  Hall.       
Bakewell   is   a   20   minute   drive   away   and   is   home   to   the   famous   Bakewell   Pudding  as well as  Chatsworth  House  and  Haddon  Hall       
The  spa  town  of  Buxton  is  a  15  minute  drive  away,  and  the  market  towns  of   Ashbourne  and Leek  can  be  reached  within  15-­20  minutes.  Alton  Towers  is  35   minutes  away.       
The  Potteries  are  also  close  to  this  part  of  the  Peak  District.  The  factory  shops   of  Emma Bridgewater  and  Burleigh  make  for  a  fascinating  trip.       
Bikes  can  also  be  hired  on  the  Manifold  or  Tissington  Trails.  Please contact us if you are thinking of bringing your own bikes.
Local Markets can be found in Ashbourne on Thursday and Saturdays; Bakewell on Mondays; Buxton on Thursdays and Saturdays; Wirksworth on Mondays and leek on Wednesdays with an Antique and collectors Market on Saturdays, indoor market on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
